Vs Wolf

I played vs a decent wolf player today by the name of shinobifist. Alot harder to break grabs online than i thought as I had a really hard time dealing with low throws. I cant seem to break them at all, Maybe im guessing wrong all together but meh. I got perfected so many times trying to break low grab it was maddening. However it IS vf so once momentum is gained its pretty hard to stop your opponent once they get going. He had a really strong Oki game that i had to watch out for. the only problem was that his midrange and nuetral game was the same exact shit so i took advantage of that by forcing him to deal with my offense. He had no answers for alot of things that i did and the set ended up going pretty much dead even. However it was still a good set. I seem to have alot of problems with wolf's evade throw its a pain because it just goes under shit even my grab to counter the grab. I broke it more than i thought i would but even then it is indeed still a pain. I can double TE alot more now too which came in handy the majority of the set. Ill keep stepping up my offense and my defense as i go along.

[A Wolf matchup can go wayside very quickly if you eat moves from a distance. Also if you can't throw escape - forget it.

Always break + and a situational throw. What I mean is take a look at where you are in the ring.

My back is to the wall. What do I look out for?

Most players will go for direction. Break this throw or you will suffer. To mix it up the Wolf player can use any of Wolf's wall variations, so be alert to how the match is playing out and show early on that you're not gonna eat . Watch those shoulders. Wolf players love to slam clueless opponents into the wall for major damage. (Shoulder can also ring you out over low walls!!! Watch out!)

His back is to the wall/edge of the ring. Am I safe?

No. Break or die. Again yomi prevails over all. Break this throw early to show competence and make the Wolf player use alternatives for his damage. Also, PRESSURE. If you have momentum lay on the offense and force a or throw. Both damaging options! Look out for the occasional ++ to beat failed evades!!!

We're battling in the center of the ring. What's the deal?

Watch for ++. This is Wolf's main low attack. The best defense for this is to evade to his stomach when you think it's coming. If you anticipate ++ or get put in minor disadvantage and the Wolf player chooses screw hook; evade to Wolf's frontside to avoid both attacks. (Screw hook can be countered with +, if you defend the first and crouch the second) Be careful to avoid BOTH screw variants at the end or you will eat the second on your successful evade. Also watch for Wolf players that are good at hit checking the first hook... they'll bait a crouch and low throw you!

Be cognizant of ++ and F5 (++). You're going to have to be alert, or if you're clean you can attempt a triple throw escape. (Not recommended. Know your opponent and focus on your offensive flow instead.)

General Advice

-Avoid + by evading to Wolf's back.
-A successfully defended ++ nets a guaranteed +,.
-Avoid side step catch throw by inputting ++ to your back and ++ to your stomach.

-Watch your evades. Wolf has serious setups for huge damage.
-Watch your fuzzy guard. Wolf is also a dangerous low throw character.

And finally...

Attack. Do not be afraid of your opponent and minimize delays in your attack pattern. If you lack aggressiveness you will be playing into a Wolf player's strength and will be vulnerable to Wolf's high damage setups using his slower starting moves.]

yeaaaah!

Ive been playing jacky for about a week now and I have to say that I am very confident in the abilities that i have to play this character. Jacky is exactly the kind of character i should have played from the start. I can move as fast as i want, and i can attack at different ranges with out TOO much trouble. All there is left is to piece together how to play him effectively. My habits with jacky tend to ammount to the fact that i evade so much, Mainly its because im trying to practice ETEG so much in matches so that when i need to do them i can, I have gotten a bit better. I can do 2 escapes somewhat consistantly. I also have a tendancy to use strings a little too much and not enough launching to punish opponents for whiffing moves. The journey is indeed a long one, whats at the end? Dont know, If there is ever an end, ill be very suprised
